Wandsworth residents are being invited to apply to become Paralympic torch bearers.
Sponsors BT are looking for 'inspirational' teams of five people to carry the flame on the eve of next August's London Paralympic Games. Each team will carry the flame for 750 metres of its journey from Stoke Mandeville, the home of the Paralympic movement, to the Olympic Stadium.
The council is encouraging local people to nominate their own, or another, local team, so that the borough and its citizens are represented.
It is not yet known if the Paralympic route will pass through Wandsworth. However, the borough will host the Olympic torch relay the previous month, and Tooting Common been chosen as the venue of one of the spectacular evening celebrations on July 23.
To nominate a team, visit www.bt.com/London2012 or call 08000 23 23 99.
Nominators and Torchbearers must be at least 12 years old and nominations must be submitted by midnight on the January 20.
