Over half of schools open despite strike
Published: Tuesday 29th November 11
More than half of the borough’s schools are expected to be open tomorrow (Wednesday) despite planned industrial action by teaching unions.
The latest figures show that 41 of the borough's 80 schools will either be fully open or partially open. The remaining 39 will be closed.
Many parents will have already been informed what is happening at their child's school tomorrow giving them time to plan ahead.
Parents who have not previously been informed by their head teacher what is happening at their school tomorrow should receive a text message or email today. Parents can also look at their school's website to find out the latest picture.
If there are any last minute changes every school in the borough has a text message facility they can use to send out information to parents.
Aside from the impact on schools, Wandsworth Council expects other frontline services to be largely unaffected.
Wandsworth Council's cabinet member for education and children's services, Councillor Kathy Tracey, said: "It is regrettable to see schools forced to close as a result of this industrial action.
"I urge anyone in any doubt about whether their child's school is open to check online, where you will also be able to find up-to-date information about other services affected by the strike."
