Parking attendant’s quick thinking praised

A Wandsworth parking attendant brought some festive cheer to a local resident after finding her mislaid car keys.
Olufemi Idowu has been praised by the resident for his quick thinking after he came across the keys - which had been left in the driver's door of her car in Bendemeer Road, Putney.
The 40-year-old attendant used his initiative to track down the resident and return her keys, prompting her to email the council to express her thanks.
In her message she wrote: "I just wanted to say a big thank you to the initiative shown by parking attendant [no.1882] on 10th December when, on finding my car keys left in my driver side door, he/she phoned the parking department, reported my permit number and promptly posted them back through my letter box.
"This was, in my view, above and beyond the call of duty and the swift, assertive action taken by both him/her and the telephone operator potentially saved me a great deal."
Mr Idowu, who has been working for the council's parking contractor Mouchel since April 2009, said: "It was nothing really. Any one of my colleagues would have done exactly the same thing.
"I am just very pleased that I was able to help this lady and make sure she got her keys back. It's all in a days work for us."
