Balham festive fun this Saturday

Published: Friday 26th November 10

The Balham Partnership's annual Community Carol Singing and Christmas Light Switch-On event will be held tomorrow (Saturday 27 November) at 4.30pm in the Balham Community Space, Bedford Hill (next to Sainsbury's Car Park).

The South London Saxophone Quartet will be performing once again as will the Dennard Theatre Arts Group.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to get in the festive mood and join in with some carol singing, which will be led by the Reverend Wilma Roest from Churches Together in Balham and Upper Tooting.

The highlight of the evening will come at 5pm when the Mayor of Wandsworth Cllr Piers McCausland switches on the Christmas tree lights.

Local businesses will be offering out a variety of free treats:

  • Hop & Spice: Vegetable Samosas & Spicy Carrot & Coriander Soup
  • Gazette: Crispy Onion Tarts with Anchovies
  • Chadwick's: Organic Sausage Snacks
  • The Regent: Chocolate Brownies
  • Sainsbury's: Mince Pies
  • McDonalds: Soft drinks

This year the lights have been sponsored by Southern Railway, Wandsworth Council and the Balham Partnership.
