Traffic alert over burst water main
Published: Monday 27th September 10
Motorists travelling along York Road in Battersea are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys today (Monday) and possibly tomorrow because of a burst water main.
The water main ruptured on Saturday near the junction with Lombard Road leaving a hole in the road surface that Thames Water contractors are now working to repair.
The repair may not be completed until later tonight or tomorrow, meaning further hold ups on the local road network.
York Road currently remains open for traffic heading westbound, but drivers travelling east are being diverted along Lombard Road.
This diversion route is however unsuitable for high sided vehicles, which should instead use Plough Road.
