Wandsworth tax half London average

Wandsworth councillors last night (March 10) set a council tax that is the lowest in the country and barely more than half the London average.

The average Band D bill in the borough will be £687 in 2010/2011. This comprises the council’s element of £377 and the Mayor of London’s precept (£310).

The highest bills will be paid by residents in Kingston where the Band D average is £1,663.

Wandsworth is the last of the capital’s 33 boroughs to confirm its council tax levels for the coming year.

Council leader Edward Lister said:

“Wandsworth residents know they can rely on their council to deliver top-rated services and keep bills down. It’s always been the Wandsworth way, but in a recession it’s even more important to deliver value for money.”

The average Band D tax in London is £1,315.50. Final bills for all 33 London Boroughs are shown below:

i have always been curious why wandsworth has such a n unbelieveably low council tax are other boroughs supporting you is revenue from business helping towards this low costing because i really would like to know why the borough i live in is more than double this taxation is more than it should be wandswort hhas had this privilige for quite afew years and i cant see why if you are so good at managing why other boroughs havent cottoned on unless agreements have been made and other boroughs are subsidising you in someway very interested to know why it is so hope to hear from you soon thanks
