Balham Festive Evening

 The Christmas season officially gets underway in Balham this week with the ‘Balham Festive Evening’.

Residents are invited to join in the festivities which begin at 5.30pm, this Thursday (Nov 26) at the community space on Bedford Hill (next to Sainsbury’s Car Park).

Refreshments from local businesses will be on offer and children from Alderbrook and Trinity St Mary’s primary schools will perform a carol service with support from a saxophone quartet.

The highlight of evening will be at 6pm when the Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr Jane Cooper, switches on the Balham Christmas lights.

Other attractions include stilt walking and balloon modelling by local children’s entertainers Bertie and Boo and a 6ft high walking, talking Christmas tree.

Many local businesses will be staying open later than usual to mark the occasion and Cancer Research will be trading for a full 24 hours.

This year a new set of festive lights has been installed in the Balham Community Space - funded by the council, the Balham Partnership and Southern Railway.
