Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs)
Safer Neighbourhood Team Award 2010
Congratulations to Northcote SNT
Last year we launched the Wandsworth Safer Neighbourhood Team Award to recognise all the great work Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) do across the borough. After judging the excellent nominations, Roehampton were named the very deserving 2009 winners.
We recently asked for your nominations for the 2010 award and are now happy to announce that the winners are Northcote Safer Neighbourhood Team. Well done to all the team: Sgt Paul Leonard, PC Katy Shepherd and PCSOs Terry Dance and Greg Jones.
Judged by Sylvie Chrzanowska (Chair of the Wandsworth Neighbourhood Watch Association); Cllr James Cousins (Cabinet Member for Health, Community Safety & Partnerships); and Chief Inspector Peter Turner (the borough lead for Safer Neighbourhood Teams), it was a very close run contest and the decision was not easy, with East Putney being awarded as runners up. So a big pat on the back also to everyone in the East Putney team.
The following are a few comments that helped Northcote to be awarded the winners:
"The SNT provide a valuable service to local businesses. They patrol regularly and their presence helped to decrease shop crime and as a consequence have contributed to a safer working/trading environment."
"The team are warm, helpful, approachable and a definite asset. My son was in trouble recently and one of the team was there to handle it and so professionally and sensitively."
"The team are amazing. As a local business and local resident they have been absolutely outstanding when issues have happened in the store. They go out of their way to help us and go beyond their job role. We see them as part of our team. They are the 'glue' that sticks the community together. My life and work would be so much harder if I did not have this team to rely one."
