Statement of community involvement
The Council has adopted a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), which sets out policy for involving the community in the preparation, alteration and review of planning policy documents and in deciding planning applications.
Statement of Community Involvement
Background
In 2005 consultations took place on a draft SCI and the comments received during this period helped develop a new version, called the Submission Version.
The Submission Version contained a summary of the response to the consultations on the draft SCI and how it was changed as a result. A Consultation Statement, which included details of the consultations, and a schedule of representations and responses were also produced.
The SCI - Submission Version and the Consultation Statement were submitted to the Secretary of State for consideration at an independent examination and a further period of consultation was held in February and March 2006. Representations received were submitted to the Inspectorate for consideration.
The purpose of the independent examination by the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) is to determine if the SCI is "sound". The Inspector considered that, subject to a few minor changes and updating, the SCI was sound and could be adopted.
