Core strategy

The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on 20 March 2009. The plan is now subject to examination an independent Inspector from the Planning Inspectorate.  The Inspector's report will be binding on the Council.

The Inspector set out some matters of concern in a letter to the Council on 20 April 2009. The Council provided the Inspector with the additional information including an affordable housing economic viability assessment and a Stage One Urban Design Statement and proposed a number of changes to the Core Strategy. As recommended by the Inspector the Council undertook formal consultation on the proposed changes which ended on 6 November 2009. 

The Inspector held a Pre-Hearing Meeting on 8 December 2009 and requested statements from the Council and representors be submitted by 7 January 2010.

Public Hearing Sessions will took place on 2, 4, 9, 11 and 16 February 2010.

Programme Officer

Ms Vijaya Ram has been appointed as the Programme Officer for the purposes of co-ordinating the Examination of the Core Strategy, and will deal with all related procedural, administrative and programming matters under the direction of the Inspector, Linda Wride DIPTP MRTPI.
