Core strategy
The Core Strategy sets out the Council's spatial vision, strategic objectives and spatial strategy on how the borough should develop over the next fifteen years along with core policies and information on monitoring and implementation.
Extensive consultation on the Core Strategy has taken place. We have considered all representations submitted and carried out a sustainability appraisal (SA) of the options.
The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on 20 March 2009. The plan was examined by an independent Planning Inspector during public hearing sessions in February 2010. The Inspector's binding report has now been received which confirms the plan is sound with a number of amendments. Most of the changes had been proposed by the council at the public hearings in February.
The Inspector's report and schedule of changes can be downloaded along with other Core Strategy information.
The Core Strategy is expected to be adopted by the council at its meeting on October 20, 2010.
