Core strategy

The Core Strategy sets out the Council's spatial vision, strategic objectives and spatial strategy on how the borough should develop over the next fifteen years along with core policies and information on monitoring and implementation.

Extensive consultation on the Core Strategy has taken place over the last four years. We have considered all representations submitted, carried out a sustainability appraisal (SA) on the options.

The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on 20 March 2009. The plan is now being examined by an independent Planning Inspector. The Inspector held Examination Public Hearing Sessions on the 2nd, 4th, 9th, 11th and 16 February.  The Inspector's report which will be binding on the Council is expected in June.
