Children's Specialist Services

The Family Plus Team is part of the council's Children's Specialist Services. The team is based in Welbeck House in central Wandsworth.

The team offers support, advice and information to families who are looking after children other than their birth children. We are developing new programmes to meet the needs of all our carers.  The support can include linking carers with resources, and advocating on their behalf with other agencies.

The team was set up in recognition of the extremely important and often difficult task these carers have taken on, and their need at times for help and support.

Contact after adoption service

The team manages, reviews and monitors all contact after adoption arrangements, both letterbox and direct. We provide support for birth relatives and adopters (for example with letter writing) and we have produced detailed guidance about contact.
