Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant: Sunday 3 June, 2012
Background
The traffic plan for the Jubilee Pageant has yet to be published. However, there is a clear message from event organisers that people should try and avoid vehicular travel in London on Sunday 3 June, 2012, as there is likely to be extensive disruption to travel. The impact of the Pageant and other more localised activities in surrounding Boroughs (street parties, event at Battersea Park etc) will make travel extremely difficult and people can expect significant delays in travel times.
Therefore if people can plan ahead and make arrangements to travel using alternative routes or travel outside of event hours, it will help to minimise disruption in the area.
Disruption
What we do know is that the extent of the disruption is likely to be mainly between Battersea and Tower Bridge, starting as early as 0700 hours. The majority of bridges across the Thames will be closed with the possible exception of Southwark/London Bridge/Waterloo/Vauxhall bridges. However, these bridges will be closed at certain times during the day to support event security.
Parking restrictions
Sunday parking restrictions will be in place. Parking in roads which have been highlighted with 'viewing areas,' may also be suspended. Road restrictions are likely to be removed by 2000 hours.
