What not to put in your bin
Do not put the following in your dustbin
- Clinical waste such as needles or syringes.
- DIY waste such as bricks, sand and plaster, or bulky items that will not fit in your bin.
- Garden waste is composted when collected on request (charged)
- Hazardous waste such as household or garden chemicals.
- Liquid waste such as paint or oil.
- Paper, card, cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and food and drink cartons. Please use your orange sack or orange-lidded bank for recycling.
- Other materials that can be conveniently recycled using public recycling banks or the Household Waste and Recycling Centres. Includes fluorescent tubes, motor oil and electrical appliances.
- Items in good working order which can be reused or donated. See the free exchange websites list or find your nearest charity shop.
