Wandsworth Design Review Panel
What is the Wandsworth Design Review Panel?
The Wandsworth Design Review Panel (WDRP) was established in April 2012. It comprises of a panel of independent professionals with architectural and design expertise. The Panel assess pre-application schemes within the borough and occasionally post application schemes with a view to improving design quality.
National Planning Policy Framework
The new National Planning Policy Framework published in March 2012 states that:
'Local planning authorities should have local design review arrangements in place to provide assessment and support to ensure high standards of design.
They should also when appropriate refer major projects for a national design review. In general, early engagement on design produces the greatest benefits. In assessing applications, local planning authorities should have regard to the recommendations from the design review panel.'
Within the framework of national policy guidance Wandsworth has established a local Wandsworth Design Review Panel.
In April 2017 we introduced charges for schemes referred for a Design Review at pre-application as well as post-application submission. This fee is to cover the administration cost of servicing the Wandsworth design Review Panel. Members of the Panel will receive a payment for undertaking each Design Review.
Fees valid from 1 April 2018
- First review: £2,887.20 (£2,406 plus VAT)
- Subsequent Design Review: £2,247.60 (£1,873 plus VAT)
