Connecting Clapham Junction

10. Improve public transport information and convenience of ticketing

Easily accessible information about transport services and more convenient ticketing would improve the passenger experience in Clapham Junction.

The council's campaign for Oyster pay as you go to be accepted on all local rail services from Clapham Junction has been successful. Passengers can now use Oyster pay as you go on all National Rail services in London, travelling between stations in Zones 1-9 and to Watford Junction. For more information see TfL's Oyster on National Rail guide.

However some operators, including South West Trains, still do not sell Oyster products, and impose restrictions on the use of Oyster pay as you go. This needs to be resolved so that all those living in south London can enjoy the benefits enjoyed by north Londoners with their more extensive Underground network.

Finding the right train and bus in Clapham Junction can be stressful. Better information is needed to find the right platform and bus stop. Links are required between different station platforms to show services going to the same destinations, so that passengers are not left waiting on the wrong platform.

On the street, the bus route pattern is complex and information is fragmented. Information on bus routes is required at the station, so that travellers know the shortest route from the station to the bus they need.

In the reverse direction, the station needs to be clearly signed from local bus stops. Many of these improvements would be low cost, and would greatly enhance the experience of using public transport in Clapham Junction.

What do you think?

We are keen that investment is targeted effectively and delivers real improvements - particularly for people living locally who use the station regularly.
