The 2012 Mayor of London and the London Assembly Elections - 3 May 2012

These elections are taking place on Thursday 3 May 2012 and information is available from the Wandsworth website and the London Elects  website. London Elects is the independent team that organises these elections.

Timetable

  • Tuesday, 20 March - Publication of the Notices of Elections.
  • Friday, 23 March to Sunday, 25 March - Poll cards were hand delivered by council staff to all eligible electors, except for electors in the Southfields Ward who due to the Southfields by-election will receive theirs between Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2012.
  • Wednesday, 28 March - noon - Last day for delivery of candidate nomination papers.
  • Friday, 30 March - noon - Publication of the Statement of Persons nominated.
  • Saturday, 31 March to Sunday, 1 April - Poll cards were hand delivered by council staff to all eligible electors in the Southfields Ward who received their cards one week later than the rest of the borough due to the Southfields by-election.
  • Monday, 2 April - noon - Publication of Notice of Appointment of Election Agents.
  • Wednesday, 18 April - 5:00pm - This was the deadline for applications to be received for electors wishing to vote by post.
  • Wednesday, 18 April - 5:00pm - This was the deadline for applications to be received for electors wishing to vote by proxy and whose proxy wishes to vote for that elector by post.
  • Wednesday, 18 April - midnight - This was the deadline for applications to be received to register to vote.
  • Friday, 20 April - The majority of postal voting packs for those who have applied to vote by post were collected by the Royal Mail for delivery.
  • Monday, 23 April - Any remaining postal voting packs were collected by the Royal Mail for delivery.
  • Tuesday, 24 April - from 2:00pm to finish - This was the first session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123 at Wandsworth Town Hall. A briefing for Political Party Agents and any accredited Electoral Commission observers took place at 1:45pm.
  • Wednesday, 25 April - 5pm - This was the deadline for applications to be received for electors wishing to vote by proxy, whose proxy can attend the elector's polling station on election day.
  • Wednesday, 25 April - from 5pm - Applications to vote by proxy can be received from anyone who has had a medical emergency since 5pm on Wednesday, 25 April, which prevents them attending their polling station on 3 May.
  • Wednesday, 25 April - Publication of the Notices of Poll and Situation of Polling Stations
  • Wednesday, 25 April - from 1:30pm to finish - This was the second session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123.
  • Thursday, 26 April - Publication of the Notice of Alteration.
  • Thursday, 26 April - from 1:30pm to finish - This was the third session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123.
  • Friday, 27 April - If anyone who has applied to vote by post has lost, spoilt or not received their ballot paper they can come to the Town Hall to collect another one, subject to proof.
  • Friday, 27 April - from 1:30pm to finish - This was the fourth session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123.
  • Saturday, 28 April - Electoral Services was open for telephone and personal callers.
  • Monday, 30 April - from 1:30pm to finish - Fifth session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123.
  • Tuesday, 1 May - from 1:30pm to finish - Sixth session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123.
  • Wednesday, 2 May - from 1:30pm to finish - Seventh session for the opening of returned postal votes taking place in Rooms 122 and 123.
  • Thursday, 3 May - Polling day - Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm
  • Thursday, 3 May Polling day - from 2pm - and continuing as necessary throughout the day until all returned postal votes including those returned from the polling station at close of poll at 10:00pm have been opened.
  • Thursday, 3 May - Polling day - 5pm - This is the deadline for applications to be received from anyone applying to vote by proxy who has had a medical emergency since 5pm on Wednesday, 25 April, which prevents them attending their polling station.
  • Thursday, 3 May - Polling day - 5pm - This is the deadline for anyone who has applied to vote by post and has lost, spoilt or not received their ballot paper to come to the Town Hall to collect another one, subject to proof.
  • Friday, 4 May - from 8am - The count for these elections will take place at Olympia and the result will appear on the London and Council websites as soon as they are known.
