Where are vacancies advertised

Schools in Wandsworth prefer to undertake their own recruitment of NQTs. Most of their vacancies will be advertised on the Job Vacancies section of the Wandsworth Council website: https://jobs.wandsworth.gov.uk.

Schools may also advertise in the TES and other media, or on their own websites.

Can I register my details?

Due to the popularity of our schools, Wandsworth does not operate a pool or database system. Therefore, the Council does not keep records of potential NQT applicants nor do we accept speculative applications or CVs.

However, you can register to receive job alerts and apply for vacancies as they arise.

What if I cannot find any NQT vacancies?

Although schools may not explicitly advertise for NQTs in their adverts, applicants are encouraged to apply for any suitable teaching vacancies that arise. Applicants can also ring the school to gain further information about their suitability or to arrange a visit.

If there is a particular school you are interested in working in, you may wish to approach them directly.

How do I apply?

Upon finding a suitable advertised vacancy, please complete the application form and return it directly to the school you are applying to.

Please ensure that your form is completed fully. Your personal statement should address the criteria that are outlined on the person specification. Refer to the guidance notes before submitting your form.

Interest free loans

Our newly qualified teachers may also be entitled to an interest free loan of up to £1000, to help out with those inevitable costs that are associated with starting a new career and relocating. Please note that this benefit is only available to school's that use the Council as their payroll provider.

NQTs that work at the following schools have a different payroll system and are therefore will not eligible for the £1,000 interest free loan: Elliott; Graveney, Southfields, St Cecilia's; Albermarle; Hillbrook and Belleville.
