Review of participation structures
The Council is currently undertaking a review of its participation structures with the help of a Residents’ Working Group.
Wandsworth Council is committed to resident involvement and has well established participation structures currently in place. The Government’s Social Housing Green Paper which was released in 2018 emphasises the importance of empowering the voice of residents. This provides a good time to work with tenants and leaseholders to review participation structures to make sure they are fit for purpose and provide residents with the opportunity to participate at different levels.
The Residents’ Working Group will participate in four workshops to review all aspects of the Council’s participation structures and make recommendations for improvements. These will cover the following topics:
Thursday 28 March 2019 - Introduction
Aims of the review and the Council’s overall participation structures.
- Read a summary of the first workshop.
Wednesday 17 April 2019 - Constitutions and formal structures
Residents’ Associations, Area Housing Panels and Borough Residents’ Forum.
- Read a summary of the second workshop.
Wednesday 15 May 2019 - Informal participation
Best practice within the sector and how we can encourage wider participation.
Thursday 27 June 2019 - Performance reporting and communication
Communication with residents, reporting performance and satisfaction surveys.
The Residents’ Working Group is made up of tenants and leaseholders from the Area Housing Panels and the Co-op Forum. However, we are also seeking the wider views of tenants and leaseholder and would like to invite you to complete an online survey.
After each workshop we will provide feedback on the topics discussed on these webpages.
