Mystery shopping and focus groups

Mystery shopping

Our panel of mystery shoppers are residents who make un-announced visits or telephone calls to the housing and community services department and report back on the service they receive.

Mystery shopping gives residents the chance to formally comment on a wide range of housing services provided which then helps us review and improve our service.

Being a mystery shopper is voluntary and takes just a few hours every three months. You will receive free mystery shopper training and once trained you will be given regular assignments to check services and give feedback on. As a thank you for your time you will receive shopping vouchers.

Focus groups

Focus groups are small groups of residents who volunteer to review publications and webpages produced by the department. This method of involvement could include a group meeting to discuss a publication such as the Annual Report to residents or being a virtual member and reviewing publications via email. The groups are asked to comment on the:

  • relevance of the information contained in the publication
  • clarity of the document
  • layout and design
  • grammar used
  • formatting
  • ease of finding the right information (webpages)

For attending focus group meetings you may receive shopping vouchers as a thank you for your time.
