Alton Area regeneration
The procurement process for finding a development partner to help deliver the regeneration scheme began in 2016. It is expected that an appointment can be made from early in 2017.
This is a competitive selection process which is open to companies that are members of the Greater London Authority's London Development Panel, with several submitting bids which must be assessed in accordance with European Union (EU) and UK procurement law.
It is a lengthy and complex process, taking approximately a year to complete. According to EU rules, the council should treat each bid in confidence to avoid giving any company an advantage.
Drop-in sessions and appointments
A new site office in the parish hall on Alton Road will be open soon, to ensure residents can continue to ask questions and consider their rehousing options.
Drop-in sessions will be organised at the site office or residents can make appointments to meet with specific team members.
Training and employment
Work Match, the council's jobs brokerage, will soon be based part-time at the Alton estate, to offer training and employment opportunities for residents, not only in regeneration-related industries such as construction, but also in a range of others.
