Mitcham Lane public realm improvement consultation
In response to two petitions, the council, with the help of local businesses and ward Councillors, have developed proposals for highway improvements on Mitcham Lane to enhance the street scene, safety and to support local businesses.
The proposals would mean a reduction in street clutter, improved parking and loading facilities and improved drainage. In addition to this the street scene on Mitcham Lane between Blegborough Road and Eardley Road would be improved by renewing the footway and incorporating street trees where possible. The pavement would be widened at the junction with Thrale Road using high quality paving to create a focal point for the community by providing potential space for seating, and a facility to install a Christmas Tree.
The removal of the speed humps at the junction of Mitcham Lane and Thrale Road would improve drainage at the junction and ease the flow of traffic through the traffic signals.
