The table below shows the amount of grant qualifying tenants could receive, as long as they have had at least three years of public sector tenancy.

The amount of grant rewarded is means tested and is classed as gap funding to use towards the purchase of a property.

Grants for those tenants who have 2-3 years tenancy

If you do not have the full three years council tenancy, the following table demonstrates what level of funding you could potentially qualify for.

If you have less than two years tenancy, you will not be eligible for a house purchase grant.

Bonus payments

Tenants who complete on their purchase within 6 months of receiving an offer are eligible for a bonus of up to £3,000. 

  • Completions under 3 months = £3,000 bonus
  • Completions within 3 or 4 months = £2,000 bonus
  • Completions within 5 or 6 months = £1,000 bonus
If completion takes place after 6 months then no bonus payment is awarded.
