Mayor's Roll of Honour 2017

The Roll of Honour is a list of local people who have volunteered their time to help others and have been awarded a special Wandsworth pin by the mayor.

The pin shows the Wandsworth mayoral crest.

Denise Burton (Chief Petty Officer) Feb 2017 For 30 years great community service to the Tooting & Balham Sea Cadets.
Kelly Burton (Chief Petty Officer) Feb 2017 For 20 years great community service to the Tooting & Balham Sea Cadets.
Lieutenant Colonel Edward Moorhouse Commanding Officer of Royal Marines Reserve (City of London)  Feb 2017 For outstanding service in the community particularly engaging with Wandsworth Schools and furthering the aims and objectives of the Royal Marines in the Borough. Royal Marines Reserve (City of London) conferred Freeman of the Borough January 2017.
Graham Harris  Mar 2017 Resident on the Doddington Estate in Battersea for over 30 years. Chairman of Doddington West Residents Association up to 2016 and worked tirelessly for over 30 years.
Tina Penfold  Mar 2017 Resident of Carey Gardens Estate in Battersea for over 30 years and is on the committee for the co-op. Organises social events throughout the year for the whole community. Chosen as a Housing Community Champion for her hard work and enthusiastic community spirit.
Fred Chambers  Mar 2017 Housing Community Champion for his commitment to improving the estate. Such as building repairs and flytipping, passionate about keeping the estate clean.
Martell Lynch & Rowan Salim  Mar 2017 Martell & Rowan are accepting the role of Housing Community Champion on behalf of the Ashburton Community Garden on the Ashburton Estate in Putney. Teamed up with the Putney Food assembly to begin an initiative to plant fruit and vegetables and to improve the biodiversity and beauty of the local area. Out of this came the idea of the Ashburton Community Garden.
Neil Wright  Mar 2017 For services to Tooting Gymnastics giving many years of support and guidance.
Basia Klimas-Sawyer  Apr 2017 For 43 years, has been and continues to be a driving force in our community by providing magnificent enthusiastic support with Orlęta, a unique Polish Folk Song & Dance group based at the Polish White Eagle Club, 211 Balham High Road, SW17 7BQ. The group perform across the UK and abroad. Basia’s inspiration and leadership has provided many hours of enjoyment to so many in the Polish Community and their performances are an inspiration to wider audiences.

Chris Tucker May 2017 For services to the retail and business community in Balham.
Sarah Harris May 2017 For services in the community. She started ‘the Sarah Harris School of Swimming’ at Linden Lodge School in 1993. Linden Lodge is a specialist sensory and physical college. She has financially supported the school through fundraising towards their hydrotherapy pool with a £20,000 donation. This year the swimmers raised £15,000 towards the Linden Lodge Family Centre. Sarah aims to continue to work in partnership with the Linden Lodge school community.
