Make a buildings insurance claim
If your leasehold property has been damaged by an insured peril and you wish to make a claim against the policy, you will need to contact Zurich Municipal directly. The only exception to this is a claim for subsidence.
How to claim
Please ensure that you read the summary of cover before you begin to make a claim, to ensure that it will be covered.
You have 30 days to claim from the date of loss.
Quote your service charge number and the policy number QLA-01E231-0433-12 in all correspondence.
You will need to provide two quotations for repairs to your property.

Arranging repairs
Leaseholders are responsible for arranging repairs within their own property. If you believe the source of any water ingress is caused by a communal pipe, please contact your Estate Manager to arrange the repair.
Emergency works
You can get emergency repairs carried out and then submit the invoices to our insurers only if the damage caused is:
- Creating a security risk (a broken window or damage to the entrance door as the result of a break-in), or
- Potentially a health hazard (electrics are damaged as a result of water damage)
Subsidence
If you believe that the damage has been caused by subsidence, you must contact your Estate Manager to report the issue. We will monitor the situation for a minimum of 6 months before deciding whether the issue is technically subsidence, or if there is another cause.
With all subsidence claims there is a £1,000 policy excess spilt accordingly to the number of properties in the block/house.
After you have made a claim
Once you make a claim, Zurich Municipal will register the claim and acknowledge their interest. If you need an update on your claim, contact Zurich Municipal directly, quoting their reference number.
Zurich Municipal may send out a loss adjuster or property claims specialist to view the property. This is dependent on the cost of the estimated repair works submitted and complexity of the claim.
