Paying your service charge

There are various ways to make payments for major works and services charges:

  • Online
  • By phone - 1.4% surcharge for credit cards, no charge for debit cards. Automated line 0800 021 7763 (see call charges)
  • By direct debit/standing order
  • By post

Pay by instalment

This is discretionary instalment facility service designed to help owner-occupiers spread the cost of their service charges and major works bills over ten monthly payments, interest free.

Leaseholders must live at the address as an owner-occupier to qualify for the scheme. The instalment facility may be withdrawn if you fall into arrears on your payments.

Am I entitled to a reduction?

This council operates a scheme of discretionary reduction for service charges including major works. In certain circumstances, you may be entitled to a reduction in the amount you have to pay but this is usually only awarded on the grounds of exceptional financial hardship.

If you apply for a reduction you will be required to show proof of your income and expenditure and you will be expected to have explored all possible options to pay your service charge bill before a reduction can be made.

Problems paying you bills

Your lease agreements requires you to pay your services charges (routine and major). If payment is not received within 14 days interest will be charged a 6% above the Barclays Base Rate.

If you are an owner-occupier no interest will be charged if you have made arrangements to pay and do not fall into arrears.
