How we can help
Financial inclusion ensures tenants have access to the appropriate financial services, products and advise, as well as providing them with skills, knowledge and confidence to deal with money effectively.
The Financial Inclusion Team at Wandsworth Council works with council tenants within the borough who are experiencing difficulty with paying their rent by providing them with information and advice.
- Reviewing their income and expenditure – to assist tenants to minimise on their expenditure so that they can focus on their priority bills;
- Helping to maximise their income – to ensure that tenants receive all the benefits they are entitled to;
- Highlighting areas of overspending e.g. credit card, mobile phone tariffs; and
- Debt advice.
If you are struggling to pay your rent, you should contact your Rent Collection Officer who may be able to refer you to the Financial Inclusion Team who will offer one-to-one appointments. Home visits may be possible depending on your circumstances.
We are working towards bridging the gap between households in debt having access to financial services by working in partnership with Wandsworth Plus Credit Union to bring savings and loan services to the borough.
