Documents required

If you are not married to or not a civil partner of a British citizen/5 year rules

You should apply via the 5-year requirements.

The following documents must be provided:

  • Completed application form
  • Knowledge of Life in UK test/ ESOL certificate and college letter
  • Passport/travel document to cover the last 5 years - if your passport does not cover this time or there are gaps between your passports, you must provide other evidence of living in the UK, such as: benefit letters, college/ school letters, P60s, wage slips. Bills, bank statements and council tax letters are not acceptable.
  • Most recent tax self-assessment statement (if self-employed)
  • Marriage certificate/ civil partnership certificate if you are applying as a couple
  • Driving licence and counterpart (if used as ID for Life in UK test)
  • Home Office fees - Please check their website for the scale of fees 
  • Our fees £45 adult, £20 per child

You can apply via the 3-year requirements.

The following documents must be provided:

  • Indefinite leave to remain - it does not matter how long you have had this
  • Completed application form
  • Knowledge of Life in UK test/ESOL certificate and college letter
  • Passport/ travel document to cover the last 3 years - if your passport does not cover this time or there are gaps between your passports, you must provide other evidence of living in the UK, such as: benefit letters, college/ school letters, P60s, wage slips. Bills, bank statements and council tax letters are not acceptable.
  • Most recent tax self-assessment statement (if self-employed)
  • Husband/wife's/civil partner's British passport
  • Marriage/civil partnership certificate 
  • Driving licence and counterpart (if used as ID for Life in UK test)
  • Home Office fees: Please check their website for the scale of fees
  • Our fees £45 adult, £20 per child
