Putney gets a new weekly food market
The idea for the food market came about when Max Kennedy, an entrepreneur who had previously set up and run two successful markets elsewhere in London, was approached by a friend living in Putney who was frustrated at the lack on independent food available on the High Street.
Max, who was raised on a farm and in the past has helped plan events for the Olympics and for Nike says,
The aim of this market is to bring independent artisan food traders to Putney High Street and to provide locals with an alternative shopping experience.
The market, which takes place every Saturday between 10am and 3pm outside St Mary’s Church, will comprise award-winning organic vegetables direct for the producers, organic meat, homemade bread, French and Italian cheese, Charcuterie, Raw Honey, flowers, cakes, olives, pies and much more. Whilst most of the stalls have already been snapped up, Max urges food traders 'offering something unique' to get in touch.
The organisers are keen for the market to be seen as a location destination, so in addition to fresh produce, the market will feature street-food vendors, craft beers and wine as well as live jazz music.
