Up to a thousand local residents descended upon the Wandsworth Civic Suite last month to attend the Employ Wandsworth jobs fair, hosted by Work Match.

The all day event saw over 30 businesses from the construction, hospitality, catering and retail sectors come together to offer advice to those seeking employment.

Southside SW18, Decathlon, Debenhams, KFC, Young’s, Dorsett Hotels and Virgin Gym were among the businesses exhibiting and showcasing vacancies on the day - while organisations such as Banham, South Thames College and Life Long Learning were on hand to provide advice on apprenticeships.

Eillish Kwai, skills and employment manager at Ardmore Construction said:

We’ve already organised for two local people from the event to come and have some taster days.

Attendees were also able to attend a number of workshops on business start up and employability skills throughout the day. Wandsworth Work Match was set up by the council in 2013 to help match out of work local people with new jobs in the borough.

Visit the Work Match website for more information on the service.
