Battersea Park Businesses takes action to improve the local environment in North Battersea
Battersea Park Businesses (BPB), a local, not-for-profit association that represents businesses in North Battersea on local issues, has taken part in the Great British Spring Clean for a second-year running, as part of the nationwide campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy.
BPB actively works to improve the local environment within the Queenstown ward through various initiatives to make the area more attractive for residents, visitors and workers.
An 18-strong team of volunteers including GoApe Battersea Park, Lambeth College, GHA group and London Cushion Company took to the streets clearing litter from Havelock Terrace, Battersea Park Road, Ingate Place and Silverthorne Road. The event was also supported by Wandsworth Council, which provided equipment for volunteers.
Speaking about the team’s experience including young people from Lambeth College, The Princes Trust Team Leader Sheromie Brewster said:
They all took pride in helping to clear litter from the streets alongside other volunteers. They were also approached by passers-by congratulating them on their efforts.
Sheromie was also pleased to hear a passer-by comment on the need to celebrate the efforts by young people to make a positive and productive contribution to the community.
BPB will be working closely with GoApe Battersea Park and Wandsworth Council to continue the clean-up initiative. If you would like to get involved in a future litter-picking event in Battersea, get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
When BPB isn’t busy organising events with the community, the business association runs networking events and promotes local businesses through its marketing streams. BPB is also seeking funding opportunities to transform the areas surrounding local developments to help create a thriving commercial quarter.
