Wandsworth strategic housing market assessment
The council has prepared annual assessments of housing need since 1996.
The Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) seeks to identify the scale and mix of housing and the range of tenures that the local population is likely to need over the Local Plan period. This includes the need for affordable housing and the range of housing required to meet the needs of different groups, for example; older people, disabled people and service families.
About the strategic housing market assessment
The 2012 Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) is prepared in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework and Planning Policy for Traveller Sites published by CLG in 2012, SHMA Practice Guidance published by Communities and Local Government (CLG) in 2007 and has taken into account the effect and implications of the Localism Act 2011, the Welfare Reform Act 2012 and changes to the way that affordable housing is subsidised and delivered.
