What to do if you need to cancel or alter a highways licence
When to give us notice
Please be advised that requests for alterations or cancellations to a licence/suspension must be received on the day of submission by 3pm.
For amendments or cancellations after the day of submission there must be a minimum of 2 clear working days before the start date of a licence or suspension.
For example if a licence is due to start on a Friday the request to cancel or amend the licence/suspension must be received on the Tuesday before 3pm.
Please allow extra days for Weekends and Bank Holidays.
If the correct notice period is not provided we are unable consider cancellation or alterations.
Cancellation or alteration of licences or suspensions will only be carried out once the administration charge has been paid. This charge is non-refundable.
The following charges apply from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019:
A request to cancel or alter a licence or parking bay suspension will incur an administration charge of £47.50.
For a parking bay suspension there is an additional charge of £10.10 per sign that needs to be erected, amended or removed.
How to notify us
In the event of the need for a cancellation or alteration to an application you should email firstname.lastname@example.org providing:
- your name
- address of the licence or suspension
- date of the original request
- the change you require
Call 020 8871 8871 to make your payment by debit or credit card. Payments can be taken between 8am and 4pm on Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays.
Refunds can only be made in respect of parking bay suspensions and not for any other type of highways licence.
If a cancellation is agreed then the refund of any parking bay suspension charge will be calculated from the first full day following the removal of the signage from the site.
Refunds are usually processed within 7 to 10 days.
