Benefit Cap Implementation
In April 2013 a cap will be introduced on the total amount of benefit that
working-age claimants can receive so that broadly, households on out of work
benefits will no longer receive more in benefit than the average weekly wage,
after Tax and National Insurance.
The benefit cap will be implemented from 15 April 2013, starting in four
local authorities in London:
This will be a phased roll-out with the remaining local authorities including Wandsworth implementing the cap from 15 July 2013, with all appropriate households capped by the end September 2013.
