Demography: population

Introduction

Demography is the statistical study of populations; for instance, looking at the size, structure and distribution of populations, and spatial and/or temporal changes in them in response to birth, migration and death.

In terms of the JSNA the borough's demography will underpin all other data sets.

A good example of demographic analyses is Wandsworth's particularly mobile population with 30% of the population changing every year, this is higher  than the Inner and London averages. This presents a challenge when trying to keep track of patients, for example to ensure children receive all their due immunisations, or to ensure that women who miss cervical screening are appropriately followed up.
