Wandsworth Arts Festival
Welcome!
Artist-led, home grown 6 – 22 May 2011
It's time to celebrate arts in Wandsworth again, with a programme packed with events and activities to excite your senses and dazzle your mind. From theatre to visual art to film, photography, poetry and music there is something for everyone, as well as plenty of opportunities to get your hands on and have a try.
For the first time the festival will include a fringe satellite programme which includes alternative events taking place across the borough. But remember to pace yourself over the two weeks for our showcase outdoor arts day set against the River Thames - The Shimmy!
The Shimmy is made up of performances, installations and workshops - it's a brilliant day to come along and try loads of arts activities for free. The Shimmy attracts well over 1000 visitors - who need to know where the festival site is. So we're decorating the site with thousands (literally) of origami butterflies.
Take a look at some reviews and articles about the Arts Festival!
The festival is organised by the council's arts team, in association with local professional and amateur arts organisations, community groups and individuals, and is part-funded by Arts Council England and sponsored by Southside Shopping Centre and St. James.
