Applying for housing and transfers

This section gives information about applying for social housing (a council or housing association property) and transfers.

How to qualify

You can apply directly to any housing authority in the country although the Localism Act 2012 gives local authorities the power to specify particular classes of person who do and do not qualify for housing in their area and, if you don't meet the qualification criteria, your application won't be registered.

Your chances of being offered social housing (a council or housing association property) in Wandsworth or elsewhere will depend on the supply of, and demand for, homes in the area, whether you meet the qualification criteria set by the local authority and the priority awarded to your application.
