Cycle routes

Cycling is legal on all streets within the borough, as well as some off-road routes. Many of the busier roads within the borough include some level of provision for cyclists, such as cycle lanes or advanced stop lines at junctions, and we are actively working to improve the quality of these facilities and introduce new facilities where there are none presently.

Cycling on the pavement is illegal, unless it is specifically signed to allow cycling. Cyclists should travel slowly and be considerate of pedestrians in a shared environment, such as parks and car-free streets.

London's cycleways

Cycleways are routes that link communities, businesses and destinations across London into the cycle network. They used to be called Cycle Superhighways and Quietways.
