Wandsworth Eco fund

Wandsworth Council offers small grants to support local projects that cut waste, reduce environmental impacts or improve the local environment.  We have £5,000 to give away each year.  

We are committed to making Wandsworth a community of global citizens living within environmental limits in an attractive, high quality local environment. Our ambitions for a more sustainable future include:

• Creating a cleaner, greener, healthier borough
• Reducing CO2 emissions
• Adapting to the unavoidable effects of climate change
• Tackling the consumption of resources and pollution
• Demonstrating community leadership on sustainability

The Eco Fund aims to achieve these ambitions by building an online community of residents making practical changes via their projects. 

It can support projects designed to:

• Reduce waste
• Increase recycling/composting
• Reduce energy and resource usage
• Encourage sustainable travel
• Improve local environmental quality

Ideas for potential applications include funding for:

• Community gardens: Improve an existing one or, if suitable land is available, create a new one.  We may be able to help fund plants, composters, bird boxes, water butts and other equipment.
• Give and take days: Why not organise one?  We may be able to help with the cost of premise hire and/or publicising the event.
• Composting equipment: If it's not just for a single household, we can probably assist with the cost.
• Garden waste shredders: These make home composting much easier.  We can help to fund them so long as they are used by more than one household.
• Screening for recycling banks: Many residents think recycling banks outside their blocks are an eyesore unless they are screened off.  If proposals screening enjoy the support of the premise manager, we may be able to help fund it.
