Wandsworth Council's Annual Carbon Footprint

The Council is required to participate in the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (the CRC). This involves the reporting of carbon emissions from Council activities and, from 2012, the purchase of credits to cover these emissions.

The Council also has a Carbon Reduction Plan which sets out how emissions will be reduced in line with targets in the Environmental Action Plan.

The carbon footprint of Council activities is published on this page in a slightly different format to that used for the CRC (including emissions from some transport). This is so that the information can be used by Government and residents to compare Wandsworth with other Local Authorities, public bodies and businesses who will use similar methodologies.

The methodology used for the data below is as set out in the 2011 DEFRA Guidance.
