Wandsworth Orchestras

From the very beginning of instrumental learning children will be supported to play in ensembles, orchestras and bands through our bespoke ensemble development programme encompassing classical, popular and world music genres.

The structured learning programme nurtures children and young people's musicianship towards the borough's flagship ensembles and prestigious performance opportunities which include performances at the Royal Festival Hall, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, Mayor of Wandsworth Carol Concert and the annual summer tour

Our thriving Music Academy hosts the borough's flagship ensembles which provide young people with prestigious performance opportunities including performances at the Royal Festival Hall, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, Mayor of Wandsworth Carol Concert and the annual European summer tour, as well as the chance to attend half term music courses.

Our Orchestras offered are:

Beginner Bands (Strings, Brass, Wind)

  • For new learners until pre-grade 1 level 

Wandsworth Junior Orchestra

  • Approx. grade 1 to grade 3 level

Wandsworth Jazz Orchestra 2

  • Approx. grade 3 to grade 5 level

Wandsworth Jazz Orchestra

  • Approx. grade 6 to grade 8 level

Wandsworth Concert Orchestra

  • Approx. grade 3 to grade 6 level

Wandsworth Pops Orchestra (Secondary school age only)

  • Approx. grade 6 to grade 8 and above

These impressive ensembles allow children to progress through the Orchestras, developing their musicianship skills and allowing them to strive towards new and exciting performance opportunities.
