The outcome of your secondary school application 2013

The outcome of your secondary school application will be posted to you by first class mail on the 1 March 2013. If you applied using the online facility, an email containing the outcome of your application will be sent to you during the evening of Friday 1 March. Please note that online applicants will also be posted a letter on 1 March.

Application outcomes will not be given on Friday 1 March by the Pupil Services Team and therefore it will be necessary to wait for your email if you applied online or your letter if you applied using a paper form.

Offer of school place

The outcome letter will identify the school place your child has been offered. No child will receive an offer of more than one place with the exception being any parents who also applied for an independent school place.

In some cases, where it has not been possible to offer a preferred school place, the local authority has an obligation to offer an alternative school and this will usually be to the nearest school to the home address with a vacancy.

There is no obligation for the parent to accept the offer of an alternative school place, but very careful consideration should be given before declining any such offer.

Please be assured that the child concerned will be automatically added to the waiting lists for a higher preferred school. If application has been made to out of borough schools, it is advisable for parents to contact the relevant borough where the school is located to ensure that their child is placed on the waiting list.  Any future decision to offer a child a place at a higher preferred school will not be prejudiced by the fact that an offer has been received and /or accepted elsewhere.

Responses to school offers must be received by the 15th March 2013.
