Air quality
Reviewing and assessing air quality
We conduct yearly reviews and assessments of air quality in the borough.
2011 Air Quality Progress Report
In 2011 we were required to complete a Progress Report on Air Quality under the fourth round of review and assessment. The 2011 Progress Report is divided into two parts, as it provides progress in terms of the local air quality management and in terms of the implementation of the measures within the Air Quality Action Plan. The Progress Report provides information on new monitoring results, and any new local developments that might affect air quality since the time that the last review and assessment (Updating and Screening Assessment 2009) and the last progress report (Progress Report 2010) were undertaken.

We are consulting community and environmental groups, the GLA (Greater London Authority), DEFRA (Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), and all authorities and agencies that may have interests in local air quality affecting borough of Wandsworth.
This document is also issued for public consultation. Please visit the consultation page for information on where to send comments. Please note that all comments must be received by Monday 31 October 2011.

2009 Updating and Screening Assessment and Air Quality progress report
In 2009 we were required to complete an Updating and Screening assessment of air quality under the fourth round of review and assessment, to fulfil its objectives. The 2009 report provides a new assessment to identify those matters that have changed since the last round of review and assessment, and which might lead to a risk of the objectives being exceeded. The outcome of this report is that no further detailed assessment is required as the exceedences of the air quality objectives were already identified in the earlier rounds of review and assessment. However, the report indicates that further monitoring of nitrogen dioxide at the roadside is necessary to further assess compliance with the one hour mean objective.
In this year we were also required to complete a Progress Report on the implementation of the measures within the air quality action plan.
