Guide to planning policy
Our planning policies aim to protect and enhance the quality of life and improve economic and social opportunities. They are the basis for promoting and controlling development in the borough. The current adopted development plan for the borough comprises the saved policies from the Wandsworth Unitary Development Plan (UDP), adopted August 2003, and the Consolidated London Plan, adopted February 2004. The London Plan can be viewed on the GLA website below:
The UDP can be downloaded, along with other downloads on the left-hand-side by clicking on 'Related downloads', or it can be downloaded below:
We are producing a Local Development Framework (LDF) which will eventually replace the adopted UDP. The LDF, will consist of a series of documents. The most important of these is the Core Strategy, which sets out our spatial vision for Wandsworth and a strategy for how this vision will be achieved. The Development Management Policies Document and Site Specific Allocations Document will support the strategic objectives set out in the Core Strategy. To see the timetable for production of LDF documents see the
We also publish Supplementary Planning Guidance covering matters such as access, facilities for people with disabilities, personal safety and security, and design guidance. This guidance is based on and consistent with UDP policy, but does not form part of the statutory development plan. The timetable for production of LDF documents and more information on the LDF can be downloaded below.
