Homebase Swandon Way

In their role of making strategic planning decisions for London, the Mayor may take over an application therefore becoming the local planning authority. A public hearing must then be held before deciding whether or not to grant permission.

In this instance, the Mayor took over the application for the redevelopment of the Homebase site, Swandon Way.

Background details

On 26 April 2017, Wandsworth Council resolved to refuse planning permission, against the officers recommendation to approve the application, and on 5 June 2017 advised the Mayor of this decision.

On 26 June 2017, the Mayor notified Wandsworth Council that he would act as the local planning authority for the purposes of determining the above-mentioned planning application (under article 7 of the Mayor of London Order and the powers conferred by Section 2A of the 1990 Town and Country Planning Act).

Representation hearing

A public representation hearing is due to be held for the Mayor to consider this application in detail and to determine whether or not planning permission should be granted.

Details of the representation hearing will be updated on the GLA website as soon as it has been confirmed.

In due course, the representation hearing agenda, report and recommendation to the Mayor will also be made available.
