Parks service
Introduction
Wandsworth boasts many beautiful parks and open spaces enjoyed by its residents. Within our borough, 670 hectares (1600 acres) is covered by parks, commons, allotments, and cemetery land - the largest proportion for any inner London authority and almost five times the size of Hyde Park. This land is owned by the council. Among our services we:
- Provide allotments
- Maintain several thousand trees in opens spaces and on the streets
- Advise on wildlife and all biodiversity matters
- Manage pitch bookings for outdoor sports including football, rugby, cricket, softball and bowls
- Maintain cemetery land
- Maintain parks and open spaces
- Issue fishing permits for the fishing season, which runs from mid-June to mid-March.
Laws governing the use of our parks
The use of our parks and open spaces are subject to byelaws including dog byelaws. For example, barbeques are not allowed in any of our parks or open spaces. Download byelaws information.
