Sponsor a bench

As part of the restoration over 200 benches have been installed to make the park a pleasant place to rest and relax.

Do you have fond memories of Battersea Park? If so, sponsoring a bench will be a lasting and memorable contribution to this much loved and well used park. There are two types of benches you can sponsor: cast iron or steel strap.

Cast iron benches

The cast iron bench design was at its height during the mid 19th century. Very few benches from that period survive today.

The design for the Battersea Park cast iron bench has been copied from this photograph, brought back to life for the restoration of the park.

This style of bench will be used in the more formal areas of the park, including the Riverside Promenade, the Sub Tropical and Rosery Gardens and on Central Avenue.

Steel strap benches

The strap bench can be seen in early photographs of the park. Some of the original strap benches survive and will be refurbished. The new benches will be exact replicas, except the wood used will be from sustainable sources rather than the teak that was used on the original benches. The strap bench will be used widely throughout the park, except in the formal garden areas.

Cost: £750

Repairs policy

If damaged, the bench will be repaired wherever possible.

For the first three years, if the bench is damaged beyond repair, the bench will be replaced at no charge to you. After three years, where the bench is damaged beyond repair, we make no guarantee that the bench will be replaced and at no charge to you.
