Local history and archives

Photo of Battersea Reference LibraryThe local history and archives collection is located in the Heritage Service on the first floor of Battersea Library. The search room is open for visitors. Heritage staff can provide help with enquiries on local and family history.

A range of material is available - with books, local newspapers on microfilm, maps, original archives and photographs.

How to view the archive

To view archive material please try to let staff know in advance, as it is not always possible to retrieve material on the day.

Opening hours

  • Monday, Friday and Saturday: 9am-5pm*
  • Tuesday-Wednesday: 9am-8pm*
  • Thursday and Sunday: Closed   

*Qualified staff will be available all day on Tuesday and Friday and until 1.30pm on Saturday.
