Health and safety

We are responsible for ensuring that health and safety is key to the operation of all businesses based in Wandsworth

Accidents are often the result of poor health and safety arrangements and we aim to ensure that businesses are complying with the law and are minimising the risk of injury to both workers and the public.

We do this by means of:

• Inspections of business premises such as offices, shops and warehouses to ensure conditions are satisfactory and safe.
• Investigation of accidents at work which involve either staff or the general public.
• Investigation of complaints relating to health and safety.
• Providing information to businesses and members of the public to increase general awareness of health and safety.

Health and safety in food premises industry is dealt with by our food safety team except in food manufacturing which is dealt with by the Health and Safety Executive.

Council buildings, manufacturing and construction industries are also dealt with by the Health and Safety Executive.
