Improving private housing
We investigate tenants' concerns about the condition and standards of the private rented homes they live in. We have a range of services to assist tenants and powers to make sure landlords' properties are fit to live in.
We have enforcement powers requiring landlords to meet, for example, minimum decent homes standards, fire safety regulations as well as carry out annual gas safety checks.
If you are concerned about the standards of the property you are renting contact us. This includes things like, adequate heating, having a water, gas and electricity supply, sanitation and overcrowding issues.
For advice on tenancy related matters, such as the risk of becoming homeless due to your landlord's actions, contact the housing options team.
